Fans of A Confederacy of Dunces will love An Inch in Time, a strange and surreal romp through time and space that follows the life—and afterlife—of a young man named Justin Oliver Inch.

Inch spends his life mistakenly believing he’s a gifted writer after misunderstanding his third-grade teacher’s intentions. As he struggles to find his way in the world of adults, he decides to live up to his third-grade potential and enroll in Professor Jud Roy Lebowitz’s creative writing class.

A believer in auguries, old and new, she loves to discover hidden meaning floating on a double latte, in a swarm of bees or in a murder of crows.

“A wild ride, a rollercoaster, an invitation to engage—these poems are like jazz: sweet, sexy, sad, full of joy. They can color a planet, lift a spirit, carry us away …”
—Linda Watanabe McFerrin, author of NamakoThe Hand of Buddha, and Dead Love

Constance Hale is certainly a “grammar maven.” Her guide to sentences, Sin and Syntax, sits on writers’ desks, library shelves, and many a bedside table. But she’s also a hula dancer, a poet, and a bit of a rebel. Two years ago she decided to defy literary pigeon holes, producing two books outside the mainstream. She will reveal the whys and wherefores of her ventures into indie publishing, and she’ll ply you with Mai Tais, share her thoughts on Hawaiian culture, and teach you some hula moves. (more…)

Showdown at Shinagawa is more than a travel memoir. It is also a book about the film and video industry, a workaday account of doing business in a myriad of locations across the U.S. and around the world. Where many travel narratives detail searches for interesting encounters, environments, and experiences, Showdown at Shinagawa tells of going places with an agenda–a job to do, a crew to hire, a production to shoot.
