Some of the exercises have given birth to award-winning work by past participants. So bring your laptop and/or paper and pen and discover how a good writer takes center stage on the page and holds it.

Review for New Gillian Bagwell Book

There are already great reviews coming in for Gillian Bagwell’s newest book, Venus in Winter.  Gillian, as you will surely remember, is our July LCW Salon Presenter. She’ll also be using her background in theater to share tips on literary presentation and reading skills. This most recent praise comes from RT Book Reviews, which gave it 4 stars!

“Bagwell’s third novel is an engrossing look at a powerful woman in English history.  Spanning age 12 through 40, the story moves at a nice pace through the life of four-time widow Bess of Hardwick.  With the book’s rich descriptions, readers will feel as if they are right there among the pomp and circumstance of 1500s England, as Bess finds herself thrust into the glamorous, yet treacherous, court life of King Henry VIII.  As Bess navigates her rise through society and secures her place in history, Venus in Winter becomes a worthy epic novel.”

—RT book Reviews

We are looking forward to this riveting new historical fiction novel from Gillian and so should you!

Southern Sampler Redux

Studio Art Chair John Hull, Historic Preservation and Community Planning Director Robert Russell and Left Coast Writer Greg Fuller

In April some of our writers return to the South again for a week-long workshop at the Southern Sampler Artists Colony on Sullivan’s Island, led by Left Coast Writers® Founder, Linda Watanabe McFerrin.
It’s been an annual pilgrimage for years, one that always includes integration with the arts and literary community of Charleston, South Carolina.SSAC_logo_sm
It’s fun to look back. Greg Fuller and SSAC Founders Mary Brent Cantarutti and Martha Greenway mix and mingle, along with our other writers, with College of Charleston professors and administrators at this arts celebration. Our Founder’s favorite: the painting in the last photo. Check it out here.
