LEFT COAST WRITERS LITERARY SALON: Debbie Goelz, Ex-film exec, Author of Mermaids and the Vampires Who Love Them and Wattpad Star Monday, April 4th, 2016 || 7pm Book Passage-Corte Madera|| 51 Tamal Vista Dr. Corte Madera || www.bookpassage.com Be sure to join us this month and perhaps invite a literary pal as Debbie Goelz introduces everyone to Wattpad, an online and app-based platform that blends social media and storytelling. Sometimes called the “YouTube” of writing, Wattpad connects readers and writers all over the planet. Wattpad is changing the world of publishing by giving authors the opportunity to reach a readership and develop a platform. Margaret Atwood, an early proponent of Wattpad says, “Wattpad opens the doors and enlarges the view in places where the doors are closed and the view is restricted. And somewhere out there in Wattpadland, a new generation is testing its wings.” Debbie’s work became an almost instant Wattpad sensation with over 6.5 million reads on her stories to date. Debbie Goelz is a refugee from Hollywood where she served for ten years as a financial executive for such companies as Universal Pictures, Dino de Laurentiis and Jim Henson Productions. During her last position as the Vice President of Finance for Jim Henson Productions she met her future husband. Her film career began and ended with her puppeteering a chicken during the closing scene in Muppet Treasure Island.
