LEFT COAST WRITERS LITERARY SALON: Robbie Scott, Author of The Queen’s Sceptre and engineer at Bandcamp.com, working on audiobooks
Tuesday, September 8th, 2015 || 7pm
Book Passage-Corte Madera|| 51 Tamal Vista Dr. Corte Madera ||
On Tuesday eve—not Monday eve, due to the holiday weekend—Robbie Scott will talk about the trials and tribulations of taking a self-published book to audio. He’ll cover such topics as recording your own audio, the benefits of working with a professional narrator, and navigating legal and financial issues like contracts and revenue sharing. He’ll touch on the rise of audiobooks in general, the current players, like audible and iTunes, the self-publishing market, and the plans of independents like Bandcamp. Audiobooks, with a market growth ranging between 6% to almost 50% from year to year, depending who you talk to, are one of the bright spots in book publishing. How will that pan out for the self-publishing crowd?
