Set in a small area in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Amanda McTigue‘s new novel Going to Solace takes you on a journey through the lives of several different characters over the course of the week before Thanksgiving in 1989. The novel is written from various characters’ perspectives giving an interesting view of their world and the goings-on in their community, which range from heart-warming to heart-wrenching. The event will have a festive atmosphere, and will include regional treats, bluegrass music, down-home quilts on display, and other fun and folksy enticements.
Amanda McTigue is an author, director, teacher and storyteller. She has written two childrens’ books, Dreamtime and Once Upon a Lullaby, many plays including The Hollywood Tycoon and Children Will Listen, and has worked as a concept thinker/writer for international design firms, working with Walt Disney Entertainment, Thinkwell, and The Hettema Group. She has been the director of theater productions such as Zazz, Carousel, and The Magic Flute and also coaches actors and actor-singers. Her new novel, Going to Solace, is coming out this year and has already garnered the attention of several literary aficionados.
“Amanda McTigue masterfully sets us down in a small-town in the South, where we see in each of her characters reflections of our own capacity for caring, forgiveness, and integrity.”
